As ACMHI unfolds, we would like to share in the successes reached throughout our membership regarding mental health promotion and programming. Here is an update provided by the Students' Association of Medicine Hat College (SAMHC).
So Far, SAMHC hosted a Drug and Alcohol/Addiction Awareness week and Stress awareness week. SAMHC invited agencies from the community to participate in educating students; for example, SARC (Sexual Assault Response Committee) and Alberta Mental Health, Women’s Shelter. The Medicine Hat Police, in collaboration with students from the College' Paramedic Program, presented an accident static, realistic display to simulate an alcohol related accident.
For Stress Awareness Week, SAMHC had a organized Pet Therapy. Three dogs spent time on campus giving their attention to students to help students decompress during mid-terms. The event was very well received by students, with pictures available below!
SAMHC will be hosting the following upcoming activities between now, and the end of January.
